Telegram is one of the few places a paying shortener still makes sense. You control the channel. The post can carry a full URL. People are already in a tap-first habit.
It is also where people fool themselves. Telegram fetches every link to draw a preview card. That fetch is not a reader.
The only setup that works
- Make a KooLink account. Guest links do not earn.
- Shorten the destination you actually want them to open (your article, file page, signup, video).
- Paste
https://kool.ink/CODEin the body of the channel post, next to one sentence that says why to open it. - Leave it there. Do not pin a bio-only link and hope.
The preview card will load. That is not a valid view. The member who taps the card or the URL is.
If you need the preview to look like the destination, that is a Telegram limitation plus our interstitial. We send bots and unfurlers straight through so the card can render. Humans see the five-second page, then the destination.
Where to put the link
Works: channel posts, discussion group messages you write, a weekly digest post, a "full version" line under a teaser.
Weak: the channel description / bio. Almost nobody opens it. Fine as a spare, useless as your plan.
Risky: random group spam, "click my link" raids, comment-steering bots. Telegram will restrict the account. We will filter the junk clicks anyway.
What to expect in numbers
KooLink pays $3.50 per 1,000 valid views. A channel that reliably gets 1,000 real taps a day is about $105 a month on the estimate. A channel that gets 1,000 preview crawls and 40 taps is $4.20 a month, and the dashboard will look "broken" if you were counting server hits.
Compare Telegram analytics (taps) to KooLink, not Telegram's link-unfurl count.
You apply for payouts at 10,000 unique valid views. At a few hundred real taps a day that is a month or two. At a dozen a day it is a long wait. The gate is doing its job.
What gets the link banned
- Destinations that are malware, phishing, or "get rich" cloaking
- Wrapping another ad-shortener inside KooLink (or the reverse)
- Telling people to disable their ad blocker and refresh
Telegram is harsher than a personal blog. If the destination would embarrass you in the channel, do not shorten it.
WhatsApp and Telegram are not the same
WhatsApp statuses and group chats unfurl too, and a lot of WhatsApp communities treat unknown short domains as spam. Telegram channels are a better fit. If your audience lives on WhatsApp, test one post before you migrate every link.
A boring weekly habit
One post, one short link, one reason to tap. Check the dashboard on Friday. If the estimate did not move and the post had views in Telegram, you probably had previews and no taps. Write a clearer reason to open the destination. Do not add more shorteners.
Rate card: how much you can earn. Comparison of this whole category: URL shorteners that pay you.
